About the product
What does ClientVetter do?
ClientVetter checks a company before you take it on as a client. You type the client's domain, pick the state and project value, and get one report covering registry status, domain age, website and mail setup, public reviews, dispute and payment mentions, sanctions screening and verified member reports. Everything is scored from 0 to 100 with a band (Low, Watch, High) and a written reason for every point. Our guide on how to vet a client shows each step.
How long does a check take?
About a minute in most cases. The result page shows a live progress list as each public source answers, so you can start reading while the last lookups finish.
What if the client is a brand new LLC?
Young companies are not penalized for being young. The report shows a thin footprint as one signal and explains it, so you can tell a new business with an active registry record, working mail and a real website from a new domain with nothing behind it. The suggested terms for young clients usually lean toward a deposit and smaller milestones. Our llc lookup guide explains the registry statuses you may see.
Will the client know I checked them?
No. Checks are private to your account. A business is contacted only when a member submits a non-payment report about it, so it can reply.
Data and legal questions
Is this legal?
Yes. ClientVetter reads public business information and evidence-backed member reports about businesses, and it is used by businesses deciding whether to work with other businesses. Checking a company's public registry record, domain records and court mentions before signing a contract is ordinary business practice. This page is general information, not legal advice.
Is this an FCRA consumer report?
No. ClientVetter is not a consumer reporting agency, and its reports are not consumer reports. They cover businesses, and people only in their role at a business. Our terms forbid using ClientVetter for any decision about an individual's credit, insurance, employment or housing, or any other purpose covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. You accept this when you create an account. Read the full fcra compliant background check notice for details.
Where does the data come from?
Only from public sources and from member reports with evidence. Public sources include state business registries, public domain registration records (RDAP) and DNS records, public websites and business listings, public court and news records, and government sanctions lists such as the OFAC SDN list. We do not use scraped private data, breached data, data broker people files or anything from illegal sources.
Do you check private individuals?
No. We never check private persons, households or consumers. When you choose "Contact person at a company", that person is checked only in their business role: their stated role, the company's own pages, public professional profiles and sanctions lists. We never show home addresses, criminal or personal history, family or private life.
Non-payment reports
How do non-payment reports work?
Members can report a business client that left an invoice unpaid, but only with evidence: a signed contract or accepted proposal, the unpaid invoice, and proof of delivery or correspondence. Reports contain facts only (amount band, dates, status). Each report is moderated before other members can see it, and the reported business is notified and can reply, with its reply shown next to the report. See non paying clients for the full rules.
Can a company dispute a report?
Yes. A reported business can dispute through the process on our dispute a non-payment report page or by writing to [email protected]. The report is hidden while we review the dispute. Reports that the evidence does not support are removed, and when the invoice is paid, the report is marked Resolved.
Who can see the reports?
Only logged-in members on a paid plan. Reports are never published on public pages and are never indexed by search engines. Starter members can search reports, and Team, Agency and Enterprise members can also submit them.
Billing and plans
How much does ClientVetter cost?
Starter is $49 a month, Team $129, Agency $299 and Enterprise $799. Yearly billing saves 50%, so the same plans cost $24, $64, $149 and $399 a month when billed yearly. Full details are on our ClientVetter pricing page.
What happens to my checks when I delete a report?
Your limits count usage, not stored reports, so deleting a report does not return a check. Your full checks and monitored client slots reset at the start of each billing period.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. You can cancel from your account at any time. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for, and it does not renew after that. Payments are final, with exceptions only for a duplicate charge, a proven unauthorized charge or a complete failure of the service.
Can I upgrade in the middle of a billing period?
Yes. When you move to a larger plan, the price difference is charged right away and the new limits apply once the payment goes through.
Security
How do you protect my account and reports?
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access inside your account is limited by roles on Team and above, and Agency and Enterprise keep an audit log of who checked which client. Enterprise adds SAML single sign-on and SCIM provisioning. Read more about client data security.
Do you sell my searches or my client list?
No. The companies you check and the clients you monitor stay in your account. We do not sell or share your searches, and we do not tell any business that you looked it up.
