Terms of Service
These Terms of Service govern your use of clientvetter.com and every plan offered on it. By creating an account or running a check, you agree to them on behalf of yourself and the business you represent. Please read them in full. Last updated October 20, 2026.
Who Provides the Service
The service is provided by the administrator of the clientvetter.com service. All notices and questions go to [email protected]. In these Terms, "we" and "us" mean the administrator, "you" means the account holder and every person using a seat on the account, and "the service" means the website, reports, monitoring, exports, API and related features.
Business Use Only
The service is for businesses checking other businesses. You confirm that you use it in the course of your trade, business or profession, and not as a consumer. A report covers a company and people only in their role at that company.
Prohibited FCRA Uses
ClientVetter is not a consumer reporting agency and its reports are not consumer reports under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. You agree that you will not use the service, any report or any part of a report, alone or combined with other information, to make or support any decision about an individual's eligibility for credit, insurance, employment, housing or any other purpose for which a consumer report may be used under the FCRA. You will not use the service to check private individuals, including homeowners or consumers you might serve.
You confirmed this rule at signup, and it binds every seat on your account. Breaking it is a material breach: we may close the account at once, remove the reports involved and refuse further service. The fcra compliant background check page explains the rule in plain words.
Your Account
You must give a valid work email, keep your password confidential and keep account details accurate. You are responsible for what happens under your account and for the conduct of everyone you invite to a seat. Tell us at once at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access.
Plans, Billing and Renewal
The service is sold by subscription only. Plans are Starter, Team, Agency and Enterprise, billed either monthly or yearly at the prices shown on ClientVetter pricing when you subscribe. Yearly billing is charged in advance for the full year.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period for a period of the same length, at the then current price, until you cancel. We tell you in advance by email before any price change applies to your renewal. Prices are shown in US dollars and exclude taxes, which are added where the law requires.
Upgrades and Downgrades
When you move to a higher plan, or from monthly to yearly billing, we charge the prorated difference immediately and the new plan applies once that payment succeeds. If the payment fails or needs confirmation that you do not complete, you stay on your current plan. When you move to a lower plan, the change applies from your next billing period and no refund is paid for the current one.
Cancellation
You can cancel at any time from Billing in your account settings. Cancellation stops the next renewal and takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, so you keep full access until then. Cancellation does not refund a charge that has already been made.
Payments Are Final
All payments are final and non-refundable. We do not offer a money-back guarantee or a refund period. Refunds are made only in these cases:
- a duplicate charge for the same subscription and period,
- a charge you did not authorize, once that is proven,
- a total failure of the service that prevents use of your plan and that we do not fix within a reasonable time.
To ask for a refund under one of these exceptions, write to [email protected] with the date and amount of the charge. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that the law of your country gives you and that cannot be waived.
If you are a consumer in the European Union, you have a statutory right to withdraw from a distance contract within 14 days. Because the service starts at once, that right ends when you expressly consent to immediate performance and acknowledge that you lose the right of withdrawal once performance begins, which you do at checkout. Without that consent, the right of withdrawal applies as the law provides.
Usage Limits
Each plan includes monthly limits for full client checks, monitored clients, seats and other features, as listed on the pricing page. Usage is counted as usage: every check you run counts when it runs. Deleting a report, a note or a monitoring entry does not return a check or free up usage in the current period. Limits reset at the start of each billing period, and unused usage does not carry over. When you reach a limit, you can move to a larger plan or wait for the next period.
The free preview on the homepage is a partial preview of one check per visitor per day. It is not a plan and is not part of any subscription.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- use the service for any purpose other than commercial decisions about business clients,
- harass, threaten or contact a person on the basis of a report in a way that breaks the law,
- copy, resell, publish or redistribute reports, or build a competing database from them,
- access the service by scraping, automated bulk queries outside the API, or by getting around limits,
- probe or attack the service, or test its security beyond what our vulnerability process allows,
- upload unlawful content, malware or data you have no right to share,
- share sign-in details between people instead of using seats.
Shareable links and PDF exports are for your own business decisions and those of people you work with on the same matter.
Member Non-Payment Reports
Members on Team plans and above can submit non-payment reports. Every report must be about a business client, not a private individual, and must be supported by evidence: a signed contract or accepted proposal, the unpaid invoice, and proof of delivery or correspondence. Reports state facts only (amount band, dates, status). Opinions, insults and names of private individuals are not allowed.
Each report is moderated before other members can see it. The reported business is notified at its public business contact and has a right of reply shown next to the report. It can dispute the report, and the report is hidden while the dispute is reviewed. Reports that are not supported by the evidence are removed. When the invoice is paid, you must mark the report Resolved, and we may mark it so when the business shows proof of payment.
Reports are visible only to logged-in paying members and are never public or indexed. You are responsible for the truth of what you report, you grant us the right to store, moderate and display the report and to share relevant evidence with the reported business during a dispute, and you agree to remove or correct a report that turns out to be wrong. The rules and the dispute process are described on non paying clients and dispute a non-payment report.
Reports and Their Limits
Reports compile public records and member reports at the time of the check, and public sources can be incomplete, delayed or wrong. A risk score and suggested payment terms are guidance for your own judgment, not a guarantee about any company and not legal, financial or credit advice. Confirm important facts with the client and with the original source before you rely on them.
Your Data and Privacy
You own the information you enter. You give us the rights needed to run the service with it. Personal data is handled as described in the privacy policy, and the protection measures are described on client data security. Only essential cookies are used, and no advertising pixels.
Availability and Changes
We work to keep the service available and to fix problems promptly. Enterprise plans include priority support with a named contact as stated in the plan description. We may improve or change features, and if a change materially reduces what your plan includes, we tell you in advance.
Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
To the extent the law allows, the service is provided as it is and as available, without warranties of any kind beyond those stated in these Terms. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, lost profits or lost business, including losses from a client that does not pay. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event that gave rise to the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Your Responsibility for Misuse
You will hold us harmless from claims by third parties caused by your breach of these Terms, in particular a prohibited FCRA use or a false member report.
Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms, does not pay or puts the service or other people at risk. Where reasonable, we tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem. You can close your account at any time, and closure follows the cancellation rules above.
Changes to These Terms
When we change these Terms, we update the date at the top of the page. For material changes we notify account holders by email before they apply. Continuing to use the service after that date means you accept the new Terms. If you do not accept them, you can cancel before they apply.
Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws that apply to the service provider, without regard to conflict of laws rules, except where the law of your country of residence gives you protection that cannot be excluded. Before starting any formal proceedings, write to [email protected] so we can try to resolve the matter.
