Dispute a Non-Payment Report About Your Business

If you received a notice that a ClientVetter member filed a non-payment report about your business, you have two options, and you can use both: add a reply that is shown next to the report, or dispute the report so we review it again. A disputed report is hidden from members while the review runs. Reports that the evidence does not support are removed, and invoices that were paid are marked Resolved.

  2. 2

Whether you want to dispute the report, add a reply, or both

  3. 3

A short statement of the facts as you see them

  4. 4

Evidence that supports your position, such as proof of payment, a signed change order, a written cancellation, correspondence about the work, or a settlement agreement

If your business has no domain mail, write from the address listed on your public business record and explain why. We may ask for one more document that ties you to the company.

What happens after you write

We confirm by email that your message arrived. If you opened a dispute, the report is hidden from all members from that moment until the review ends. The review compares your evidence with the documents the member filed. We may ask either side for one more document, and we decide on the evidence, not on who writes more.

OutcomeWhen it appliesWhat members see
RemovedThe member's evidence does not support the report, or it concerns a private individual, or it breaks the reporting rulesNothing, the report is deleted
ResolvedThe invoice was paid, before or after the report was filedThe report with the status Resolved
CorrectedPart of the report is wrong, such as dates or the amount bandThe corrected report
Stays with your replyThe evidence supports the report and you chose to add a replyThe report with your reply next to it

We email you the outcome and the reason. If the outcome is Resolved, the report stays as a record that the invoice was paid, and many members read that as a neutral sign rather than a warning.

Your reply sits right next to the report

You do not have to win a dispute to tell your side. A reply is shown next to the report, in the same view, so every member who reads the report reads your answer too. Keep it factual: what was agreed, what was delivered, what was paid and when. Replies follow the same rules as reports, so insults and names of private individuals are removed. You can update your reply later, for example after you settle the invoice.

If you have paid since the report

Send proof of payment with the report reference and we mark the report Resolved. If the member confirms payment to us first, we mark it Resolved and let you know. Settling is often the fastest way to change what other vendors see about your business, and the Resolved status says so plainly.

Will a disputed report keep showing while you review it?

Why do I have to write from my business domain?

Can I see the evidence the member filed?

Do I need an account to dispute a report?
